POND Portfolio v

ozzie's Pond, Newmarket, 2002
Background
Constructed in Aug 2002, this is a pond solely designed to house Koi. At 6 feet deep and 13.5 thousand gallons, it is well suited to growing large fish. It measures 22.5 feet x 13.5 feet and has 4 jets, 2 air stations and 2 bottom drains all providing a lot of water movement

The bottom is well bowled to facilitate removal of detritus and a 240 gallon settlement chamber is inline before the nitritech system. It is also heated, and connected to Ozzie's first pond [4 thousand gallon] which he has had for a few years

Equipment
2 x 4" bottom drain | Dolphin 3k ampmaster pump | 2 x starite non submersible | Air compressor | Nitritech filter system | 2 surface skimmers | Raypak heater
szeto's Pond, etobicoke, 2002
Background
Constructed in late 2002, this cute 10 x 12 pond was rebuilt to include a bottom drain and more depth. It houses 9 koi all of which all have names. The pond ties in nicely with the small landscape wall which borders the entire garden. It is 4.5 feet deep and about 1500 gallons

I took these photo's this summer [2003] and the plants are really starting to soften the rock and look great. The filter, although very close to the pond, is well hidden

Equipment
4" bottom drain | Ampmaster 3k Pump | 110 gallon multi chamber filter | 55 gallon cleaning chamber
yanti's Pond, markham, 2003
Background
Constructed in the Spring of 2003, this pond was being built for the third time. The previous builds did not include a bottom drain and filter system. The pond is actually constructed in an old swimming pool. It is very odd shaped, about 20 feet at the longest and is 3 pronged shaped. The pond is over 4 feet deep and has a small waterfall. It was stocked with 3 small koi

Previously shallower, this pond had been fished out by a weasel. So far so good with the new compliment of koi and an electric fence, visible in the photo left

Equipment
4 inch lim bottom drain | Dolphin Ampmaster 3k Pump | 3 chamber, 165 gallon filter system | Cyprio U.V. Related Links See another pool to pond conversion on portfolio 10, Raymond's Pond
