barry's Pond, toronto, 2007
Background
Yet another rebuilt landscaper pond. Inadequate filtration, shallow depth [purported to be 4', measured at < 2.5] and B grade rock work all added up to the client not being happy and calling us in. We installed a 4 inch bottom drain and an external 3 chamber filter system. We also installed a UV sterilizer. 5 Koi were introduced and are doing well

The great advantage with this project is that the filters are level with the pond but not in-ground. This makes full drainage of the chambers an easy reality if required. The pond is currently covered with a greenhouse for the Winter. Its a very eye pleasing pond with a great "woodsy" backdrop

Equipment
4" Basic Bottom Drain | 30" Vortex | 40 Watt EA UV | 2 x 55 Gallon Bio Chambers
reginalds's Pond, toronto, 2007
Background
This was a new build and the second pond for Reginald. When I arrived for the consult there was a metal shed and a poured concrete slab where the pond was to be located. Suffice to say, there was quite a lot of work to do before we could even begin the actual pond build. When we did start digging, we actually hit a buried slab of concrete about 1.5 feet down. This was a first and simply reaffirms my mantra "I know enough to know I don't know"

Very sandy conditions limited the depth to about 5 feet. The pond is almost 2K gallons with a bottom drain, skimmer w/ 2 jet returns and an air station. Space was tight, we installed a 2 chamber filer with a vortex, bio and a 3rd. chamber for flushing. Reginald finished up after we left with the great job on the plantings

Equipment
4" Bottom Drain | Savio Mini Skimmer | 2 x Dolphin 2800 | 2 Jet Returns | 36" Vortex
vincent's Pond, richmond hill, 2007
Background
This is a new build that we worked on over the entire Summer. It is a help to build project and Vincent can only get so much time off. From day one this was challenging - Vincent and I working on the concrete collar from 1:30 to 9:30. We almost finished this year with just a few days left and we should be able to start things up

Vincent was quite meticulous and had a clear vision of what he wanted to accomplish. This meant he turned down the offer by a landscaper to build him a pond in just 1 day ! This pond measures over 20 feet with varied widths and is 6 feet deep. A bottom drain, skimmer with 2 jet returns and a shallow water air station are other particulars

Equipment
4" Bottom Drain | Savio Skimmer | 2 Jets | Air Station | 48" Vortex | Rotating Media Filter w/kaldnes | 2 x Dolphin 5600 Pumps
